We are excited to announce the first season of Austin Chess Tour!

It shall consist of 5 Open and 5 Junior Qualifiers and a Final Round-Robin Tournament.

The winner of the Final Round-Robin Tournament will get to participate in the IM Norm Section of the 2025 AGCA Invitational Tournament - Spring Edition.

Who can participate in the Final Round-Robin Tournament?

7 spots of the Round-Robin Tournament will go to participants with the most points earned in Open Qualifiers and 3 spots to participants from Junior Qualifiers. ** Please note: Out of the 5 tournaments, only the best 4 results will be counted in determining the qualifying players, with the lowest score excluded. Additionally, if a player qualifies through the Open Qualifiers, their score for the Junior Qualifiers will not be counted toward the final standings.

Top 10 spots from the main section of each tournament shall earn points according to the table below:

1st Place: 25 points

2nd Place: 18 points

3rd Place: 15 points

4th Place: 12 points

5th Place: 10 points

6th Place: 8 points

7th Place: 6 points

8th Place: 4 points

9th Place: 2 points

10th Place: 1 points

What happens if there are ties within a tournament?

In case of ties the points will be added and divided equally (e.g. 2-way tie for 4th place will give 11 points to 4th and 5th finishers).

Will Open Qualifier (OQ) points count toward Junior Qualifier (JQ) points or vice verca?

No, Junior and Open Qualifiers will have their separate point systems. JQ points are only counted toward the 3 Junior Qualifier spots and OQ points are only counted toward the 7 Open Qualifier spots.
