This course introduces students to the power and practicality of pins in chess through a structured, hands-on approach. Designed primarily for players rated 700–1100 USCF, it is also valuable for improving players up to 1700 who want to sharpen their tactical accuracy.
The curriculum is divided into five focused chapters, each containing 15 exercises: Absolute Pin, Relative Pin, Attacking a Pinned Piece, Moving a Pinned Piece, Breaking the Pin.
After completing the chapters, students will take a final test of 25 mixed puzzles to reinforce pattern recognition and evaluate their mastery of the themes.
In total, the course offers 100 exercises, providing a thorough and practical exploration of one of chess’s most important tactical weapons. By the end, students will confidently use pins both as a weapon and a defensive tool in their games
